The City of New Orleans Office of Emergency Preparedness has launched a new high-tech emergency text and voice notification system.  NOLA Ready, the emergency alert system, will send real-time emergency information that may include rain storms, evacuations, threatening levee breaches, loss of power and communication disruptions to first responders, emergency managers, business owners, tourists and registered residents.  The messages will be sent via email, cell phones, pagers, Blackberry's and Treo's.  To register for NOLA Ready visit: https://www.nolaready.info/index.php?CCheck=1

You and your family may be eligible to receive assistance for mental health or substance abuse treatment if you were directly affected by Hurricanes Katrina, Rita or Wilma.  Access to Care covers up to $1000 per person in emotional support services such as medications, counseling (individual, group and family sessions), evaluation and testing for children under the age of 21, outpatient substance abuse treatment and ear acupuncture (for substance abuse treatment and relief of stress and anxiety). Covered services are retroactive to August 30, 2005.
